Looking for Ghost Stories
When we started the tour a couple of years ago we were collecting stories from the local business owners regarding any paranormal activity. We were desperate for any accurate stories that would delight and make our guests say, “Wow”. Well, I approached Morgan Miller at the Farmers Insurance Agency and, even though he believed and was in the historic Brin Opera House Building, he only had one real story that could be a “possible” ghost story.
Paranormal Activity in the Bathroom?
On at least one occasion he had come in to find that the bathroom faucets were opened up and running and couldn’t explain why. He tossed it up to old plumbing and didn’t think too much about it. Well, this didn’t make for a very interesting ghost story but Morgan, who had been so unbelievably supportive of us, needed a business plug on the walk. So, we decided to tell the story and bring folks by. We did disclose that it could be simply bad plumbing or possibly paranormal. We left it up to the guests to make the final decision on their own.
Now, let me explain the bathroom faucet set up. They are lever-type faucet (as shown in the photograph) and the hot water side does not work. There really is no reason for anyone to turn on the hot water side even though I sometimes do by habit and old habits die hard.
Our Construction Irritates the Apparitions
About a year ago, Morgan was kind enough to sublet office space from him. We came in and cleaned up the back room that had been full of antiques and stuff that he had collected over the years. It had become the storage space of his busy business and where he threw things until he had time away from his busy insurance agency to deal with. Well, let’s just say the man stays very, very busy and there was a lot of stuff back there. Most importantly, there was the Brin Store Safe that hadn’t been touched in years.
Very often when you start to move items around then you start stirring up the Spirits that are attached to the items they loved when they were alive. This safe obviously had a very close attachment to it because once we started to open and close it (and admired its amazement) then paranormal activity picked up. As a matter of fact, it was only day two of cleaning up that I laid my eyes on the first apparition ever really seen at Morgan’s place.
Back to the faucets…
Our A/V Tech was at the office and ran to the bathroom. Now, he’s 18 so I
cannot attest whether or not he washed his hands but I assume that he did the right thing and did. So, when he left the bathroom he could attest that the faucets were absolutely off. About 10 minutes later, Morgan stepped back to the Terrell Paranormal office and said, “I’m not saying this is anything at all but who was the last person in the bathroom and when you left were the faucets on?” Morgan had heard the faucets turn themselves on full-blast. He went back and both levers were turned on and running wide-open!
It was a couple of weeks later the new agent in our office, Leigh, had come back to the Terrell Paranormal office and mentioned to us that she hadn’t said anything to Morgan out of fear of embarrassment or being made fun of. She had been sitting at her desk and was by herself in the office when she kept hearing the sound of water running. She walked back into the bathroom and guess what? The faucets were wide open and were running full blast. We all chuckled. She had known nothing of the faucet incidents but she had experienced it firsthand.
Trusted Mediums Try to Make Sense of the Strange Events
We have had Mediums come in and read the faucet activity and we have gotten conflicting reports of whose spirit is responsible for the occurrences. So, right now, we just have no real data on why this keeps happening. We simply respect it as a way someone on the other side is trying to get our attention. For right now, there is no reason other than to recognize it for what it is. That is, unless they start running up the water bill and then Morgan will require me to have a conversation with them about wastefulness.
Tell us what you think.
